Frequently Asked Questions About Goring-by-Sea
Q. The footpath is often fouled by dogs. Who do I contact for help and advice?
A. There are over 300 dog bins in the borough, many of which are in Goring-by-Sea. Worthing Borough Council also employs Dog Wardens who patrol areas where fouling is an issue and can prosecute anyone not cleaning up after their dog.

Q. I have seen some rubbish that has been dumped. How can I report it for clearance?
A. Leaving rubbish in a public place is known as ‘fly-tipping’. Worthing Borough Council can provide advice as well as a removal service.

Q. A hedge is overhanging the footpath. Who do I contact?
A. It is the home owner’s responsibility to keep any hedges on their property maintained. Home owners also have a responsibility to make sure that their hedges do not cause an obstruction to adjacent footpaths. So in the first instance, you should try to talk to the property owner and ask them to resolve the issue.
If the hedge is on public land, however, West Sussex County Council deal with keeping footpaths clear. It is helpful if you can provide them with a picture of the problem when you report it. There are different ways of reporting an issue, depending on whether the issue is an emergency or less urgent.
